Thriplow and Fowlmere Oil Consortium - a relatively new, and free service for our village is being run by Sharon Brown in Fowlmere. The consortium currently orders oil for delivery at the start of January, May, August and November. It gets a substantial discount on the per litre price that you can get individually and if you are ordering hundreds or even thousands of litres, this quickly adds up to a sizable saving. Contact Sharon at sharon@brown.cx or use the link on our Useful Links page, and she will inform you of how the scheme works and will process your order.

Thriplow Solar Panel Farm
 31-Mar-2011   Local Issues   Nick Wittering

Thriplow Parish Council has been informed that the developers of the 5MW solar panel generation facility that was being considered for the land either side of The Drift bridleway, have pulled out of the program. We understand this is because of a change in the tariffs that they would have been able to earn by building this facility and generating electricity for the Grid. It seems the business plan isn't worthwhile under the new tariffs

Heydon Grange Windfarm Proposal
 31-Aug-2010   Local Issues   Nick Wittering

Towards the end of March, Thriplow Parish Council, along with the Parish Councils of Heydon, Chishill, Chrishall, Duxford, Fowlmere and Melbourn, received a Request for a Scoping Opinion from South Cambridgeshire District Council relating to a proposed Wind Farm at Heydon Grange. This is NOT a formal Planning Application. Until and unless the proposal reaches the Planning Application stage, the Parish Councils and the Councillors themselves are not allowed to take a view for or against this proposal. If they do, their views in the actual consultation on the application will be ignored as being prejudiced. We can and should however, bring this proposal to your attention.
