Blue Bins Have Arrived
 06-Oct-2010   Thriplow Village   Parish Council

The blue bins replace the green box system and are a cheaper way of collecting dry recyclables.  Collections take effect from 11 October.

On delivery, the lids of the bins may not close properly, this will settle after a week or so.

The blue bin is to be used for plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars and food and drinks cans as well as new materials such as plastic pots, tubs, trays and films (eg carrier bags and clean food wrapping) and cartons (eg tetrapacks). Please also use the blue bin for cardboard.  Please rinse any dirty packaging items and place them loose in the bin.

The blue bin comes with a caddy for keeping paper (including magazines, directories, envelopes and junk mail) separate from the other stuff, because it is more valuable to recyclers.  Keep the caddy in the blue bin.  The blue bin comes with a bag for returning domestic batteries.

The green bin will still be used for garden and food waste.  Do not put cardboard and paper into this bin from now on.

The black bin is used for materials that cannot be recycled or composted.

You may keep the green boxes if you want, or return them to Tesco at Bar Hill, Milton or Fulbourn.
