Hi everyone
A few interesting bits to report on this week...
1. January sales are up on last year
2. New items in the shop
3. Made to order indian curries
4. Wine club round coming up
5. 150 Club Draw
1. Our January sales were £400 or 4.5% up on the same period last year. It has been a quiet month and we didn't make our target for sales but January is always a quiet month, people are just fed up with eating for a while after Christmas. Anyway, this is a good start to the year and things seem to be going well from the middle of the month - let's hope they continue like this.
2. New items in the shop! We have started trials with the following items:
a) crusty round white rolls, these are crusty on the outside and soft in the middle and make a nice change from the baguettes which are so popular.
b) indian delicacies, samosas, tikis, bhajis and kebabs will be available in the deli fridge, not all at the same time. Ideal for lunchtime sandwich boxes. We will rotate the different items and see which ones are popular
c) Warburtons bread products. A concerted campaign to get Warburtons sliced bread and items like crumpets and muffins has succeeded and we will start selling these next Monday, 7th. We've heard that many people prefer it to Kingsmill.
d) Potatoes in a sack. You can weigh your own or we can bag selected potatoes for you. They tend to be bigger than the ones we get in the small bags so are good for baking.
3. Made to order Indian Curries. We would like to offer the cooking of Priya, who will do a variety of curries, (minimum order £30 ). All of her food is authentic, freshly made at home, (special diets can be catered for). If you are entertaining for an occasion or a dinner party for family or friends, give us a call and we can order the curry for you! Priya will deliver to the shop 24 hours prior to your dinner party. Once food is delivered with us we shall contact you for collection. We have menus and price lists are available at the shop for you to look at (we can provide copies if you wish).
There is a special Valentines Menu (for two people), available for £29.95 (2 course) or £34.95 (3 course). (Menus available at the shop) Orders needed by 10th February please.
4. It's a long time since we did a wine club and various people have asked me when the next one will be. It is coming, as soon as Noel Young gets his backlog cleared after his trip to Australia over the new year. Watch out for the relevant mail.
5. The next 150 Club Draw will be on Tuesday 8th February, 8pm ish at the Green Man
