Thriplow Village Playground - Newsletter

July Newsletter

Who are we?

In case you don’t know who we are – we are an advisory committee to Thriplow Parish Council, set up in November 2010 specifically to raise funds to improve the recreation ground on Fowlmere Road.

Quick update!

Just over 25% of the village turned up to our public consultation morning back in February, to let us know what equipment they might like to have in the new playground. The overwhelming support we received to update the current play facilities spurred us on to apply for grants and that is what we have been busy doing over the past few months.

Design

The results of the consultation gave us a good idea of what the children of Thriplow would like to see in their park. With this in mind we have met with several playground design companies who are coming up with some exciting ideas as well as giving us practical advice on safety, how best to utilise the space and how much it will all cost...

Fundraising

In order to update and improve the existing equipment and install lots of fun new features we need to raise a minimum of £50,000. This is where we have got to so far:

Donations from consultation                      £120
TRIC stall at Daffodil weekend                  £320
Rent from Thriplow Farms allotments       £200
KWS donation                                           £10,000
GSK “Making a difference scheme”          £500
Funding from the Parish Council              £10,000
Total                                                          £21,040

Thank you!

KWS kick started our fund-raising in earnest and have been incredibly generous – we are so thrilled and incredibly grateful – thank you KWS!
Thank you also to Thriplow Farms for donating the rent from their allotments to TRIC and to GSK for their kind donation.
The Parish Council are backing the playground improvements by providing us with substantial funding – yippee and thanks!

We have applied for and are confident that we should be able to raise £20,000 through applying for grants from South Cambridge District Council, ‘Awards for All’ Lottery grant and the Ameycespa community fund . We are keeping our fingers crossed that funds from Daffodil Weekend may come our way too. So things are looking good…we will keep you posted…..
