Hi everyone, let’s get straight onto the news this month
1. September is a bit slow, and costly
2. Look at our new front door!
3. Shop Cleaning Day
4. 150 Club
5. Wine Club
6. Christmas shopping
1. We have come back from the school holidays expecting to get back to good sales figures. Unfortunately this has not been the case. It looks like we will only just make our budget for sales this month, and even worse the milk fridge has been playing up and a temperamental fault is seemingly hard and expensive to trace. So far, call-outs for this have cost us £250 (that is the net profit we expect to make in a month like September) and it looks like the answer is going to involve £1000 or so to buy a new one. Please bear with us while we get these problems resolved!
2. Malcolm Barrie has done a wonderful job on our front door! We asked Malcolm if he would paint the door for us because he did some similar work a few years ago for us. He’s spent several afternoons on it recently and we are very impressed. Thank you Malcolm!!!
3. Shop Cleaning Day. You will not believe how dirty the shop can get. We are going to give it a good clean on the afternoon of October 16th, from about 1pm on when the shop has closed. We will be defrosting the freezers too. Please come along and lend a hand – last year the kids helped out as well, there is always a little job to be done!
4. 150 Club. September’s winner was, we will say this quietly – Judy Bradshaw, a TVSA committee member! Congratulations to Judy but I must assure everyone that the draw (by Jenny Lindop) was completely fair. The October draw will be on Tuesday October 11 in the Green Man at approximately 8pm. It is now time to renew your number for the next year, starting with November’s draw, so if you can remember to save up your £15 and claim your number in the shop sometime, that would be really appreciated.
5. The latest Wine Club round is now running. If you want any wine, please let Kevin know soon, or mention it in the shop and he will get the message. We have three price options this time, Great Drinking Reds and Whites or Mixed Cases for £77 per case, Top End Whites, Reds or Mixed Cases for £110 per case and the new Connoisseur Collection (6 whites and 6 reds) for £140.
6. We are ready to order our Christmas Gift goods – yes we know it is only September but if we don’t get in quickly, we don’t get the best choice. These items will go on display in early November so please wait until you can see what we have before you buy all your small presents from Tesco, we will have a lovely selection!
That’s all for now folks!
