Hi folks, we have a great deal of news this time, so here goes....
- Welcome to two new members of staff
- Problems with the freezer
- Change of milk supplier and new butcher offers
- Our upcoming recipe book
- 150 Club draw - June winners and the next draw is tonight
- Subscriptions to TVSA membership are going well
- Preparing for your holidays
- The AGM report is attached
- We are pleased to have secured the services of two new members of staff and you will see them both around the shop. Jude Beard is going to help us with stock management and in particular, to help us on Tuesday with the big Booker order. These orders are quite sizeable now and take all afternoon to process through the system. Later Jude may be able to use the till and serve customers. Huw Shortle has been trained to run the till and open and close the shop already – he will be seen behind the till from now on. Both Huw and Jude live in Thriplow. So please welcome them when you see them and bear with them while they get some experience!
- You will have seen that our display freezer packed up overnight recently. This caused us to lose quite a bit of stock and seems not to want to work any more – anyway we can’t trust it . On Wednesday this week, we should receive another brand new freezer, but although it is free to us, it probably won’t be big enough to replace the old one so we are still looking to buy a proper new replacement. Watch this space! We are taking deliver of Been and Jerry ice creams and the first of these should be with us later this week – some peculiar flavours including “Fish Food”. The mind boggles!
- We have changed our milk supplier to Watson’s Dairy, delivered by Fieldgate Nurseries. The reason we did this was to take advantage of significantly lower costs, and we have passed these onto you. The 4 pint cartons are now £1.60 (was £2.39). Please let us know if you have any problems with the milk, but our initial impressions are good.
We have also got a new deal with Davey’s the butcher in Meldreth. We are impressed with his meat and also with his helpfulness. You can place a specific order and we will get it delivered so if you plan ahead a day or so, you can get exactly the cut and quantity you want by letting the staff know your order. Alternatively, there will usually be some meat in the bottom of the fridge. Remember we still do this service from Leech’s in Melbourn.
4. Sue Pinner is still collecting your favourite recipes but we plan to get this book available for Chritmas presents so we are closing the entry at the end of this month. Please hand them to the shop, or mail them to sue.pinner@PROTECTED
5. Last month’s 150 Club first prize winner was Oliver Walston. Other winners were Brenda Perry, Katherine Martin and Lizzie Duckworth. The next draw will be TONIGHT in the Green Man at about 8pm.
6. Judy is still collecting TVSA Subscriptions from customers who want to be a member, and the collection is going well. Subscription costs £10 per person, and you can leave money in the shop for Judy - she will collect it and add your name to the list of members. Thank you to all those who have already paid their fees – we really appreciate it.
7. Just a quick reminder to please cancel your newspaper orders when you go away this summer.
8. We attach here the report given by David at the AGM.
That’s all for now – enjoy the summer!
