Dear friends in Thriplow,

As some of you may know, in September I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with a group of my fellow students at the University of York (where I am currently studying biochemistry). We are raising money for the charity Hope for Children who support the Amani Children’s Home in Moshi, which for over 10 years has been dedicated to the protection of Tanzania’s most vulnerable population: street children. Over the course of the past decade the home has rescued hundreds of children from the perils of life on the streets, where they face numerous dangers including malnutrition and abuse. Amani provides healthy food, education, counselling and medical care for every street child who turns to them for help.

The money I am raising will fund the construction of a separate building for older children where they can be prepared for independent life when they leave the home. I hope you will agree this is a very good cause and will mean so much to these children, giving them a positive start in life which they otherwise would not have.

My fundraising target is £2,650, a portion of which I will be paying myself to cover the cost of my flights. So far I have raised nearly £800 and I wonder if any of you would be willing to make a donation. If so I would be extremely grateful.

You can sponsor me online at the following link: http://www.hopeheroes.org/leela_phadke

If you’d like further information on the charity and the home please visit the following websites: http://www.hope-for-children.org/

Thanks again, I really appreciate your support!

Best wishes

Leela Phadke
