Below is a request from Pat Rowley for helpers with the Community Transport Scheme.

Thriplow urgently needs a community driver or two, for the Community Transport Scheme.

This service offers door to door transport for people who do not have the use of a car. The service is for people to get to Doctors, Hospital, Dentist or any other reason.

The drivers are contacted by the office in Royston to see if they could or not do a particular journey for someone in the village. You get paid 50p a mile by the passenger, with a minimum charge of £5 per journey for up to 10 miles.

I am a volunteer driver and we use our own cars. I live in Fowlmere and the drivers in Fowlmere are currently covering Thriplow as well, even so I am only called upon for one or two journeys a week, at the most.

If you think you could help and are interested in finding out more, please contact me, Pat Rowley on 208420 or the Royston office on 245228 (The Royston office hours are 9am to 3pm)

Thanks for your help

Pat
