Dear Villagers
Daffodil Weekend is nearly upon us and we are willing those Daffodils to last just a little bit longer! We are also willing you to support the Taste of Thriplow site which is bigger and better than ever with more stalls, a beer tent and live music!
This year we have added an international flavour with a taste of the Caribbean, authentic Italian Wood Fired Pizza, fragrant Indian delicacies, and Hungarian Chimney Cakes (no, I'm not sure what they are either!).
Want something more local? Step forward Camcattle's fantastic selection of beef reared on the common land opposite the Botanical Gardens. Not enough? Then visit Grasmere Farms who will further satisfy your carnivorous instincts, and if they don't, Samphire Farms will with their very own Rare Breed Pork. We also welcome Simon the Cheese and Pie Man, back by popular request, as are the fine fellows from Cambridgeshire's very own Gin distillery. Worried about your 5-a-day? Riverford will cater for your fruit and veg needs, and let Earth's Crust fill your bread basket. And we've not forgotten those of you with a sweet tooth - The Saffron Ice Cream Company are on hand, and if the weather is a little too cold for ice cream (perish the thought...), we have cupcakes, gingerbreads, crepes, and hand made fudge. Wash that down with a pint of finest local ale from the beer tent (or a coffee from our friends at Paddy and Scott's, just by the beer tent entrance), whilst listening to local bands and buskers, and delight in the fact that you don't have to do the supermarket shop next week!
So let Waitrose (or Tesco, Sainsburys or any other supermarket of choice) wait and join us at Taste of Thriplow to stock up for the week ahead
See you there
Alastair Gray
