Hi all,
Daffodil Weekend 2014
Thank you so much for the huge effort that everyone made at this year’s event. Visitor numbers were good and that combined with a number of cost saving measures meant we achieved a profit initially estimated at £21,000*. Perhaps more importantly all of our visitors seemed to have a good time and judging by the smiles so did all of you helpers.
We should be proud of our village and its quite outstanding sense of community.
We tried a number of new things this year (changing the date, fixed price stall costs, homemade sandwiches, free flour and bulbs, live music at an extended taste of Thriplow etc) and we are interested in what you think works well, what could be improved and what can be developed. To this end the Webbers have kindly agreed to conduct a market survey later in the year where we can get your views – we would be very grateful if you took the time to fill this in. In the meant time if you have any comments we need to hear then please get in touch with someone on the committee:
· Alastair Gray – Stalls
· Alison Starr – Finance
· Angela Mulholland – Admin
· Bernard Meggit – Village Image
· Brian Roberts – Health and Safety
· Dan Murton – Publicity
· Florence Walston – Stalls
· Gill McDonnell – Catering
· Greg Hilton – Infrastructure
· Imran Tayabali – Transport
· Martin Arthur – Signs and Projects
· Melissa Tayabali – Transport
· Nick Rowland Hall – Youth
· Paul Earnshaw – Chairman
There are of course many more people involved in Daffodil weekend. If you are interested in seeing some of these then a “roll of honour” poster can be seen in the pub. More volunteers to help with Daffodil Weekend will always be welcome – please contact one of the committee members if you want to be involved (and think your liver can stand it!)
Finally, a favour: There is still quite a lot of tidying to do
· If anyone sees one of the little green signs advertising Daffodil Weekend can you please pick it up. We will be organising a sweep up but may miss some
· Please pick up any stray litter if you see it and if you have room in your bin put one of the black sacks in. An additional skip has also been ordered.
Thanks again for the huge effort everyone made
Best wishes
Daffodil Committee
