Essential information about The Duxford Air Show for visitors and local residents, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September
IWM Duxford is delighted to welcome the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Avro Lancaster to The Duxford Air Show on Sunday 14 September.
There has been widespread interest in the Lancaster’s visit to the UK, which has led to unprecedented advance ticket sales for The Duxford Air Show on Sunday 14 September. This means there is only a small number of tickets still available for sale on the day, and we do expect to sell out.
There are still plenty of tickets available for Saturday 13 September; visitors can purchase these on the gate in the usual way.
As we do for every air show, we are working closely with the Police, Highways Agency and the AA to ensure our visitors are able to arrive and park as quickly as possible, and that congestion on the surrounding roads is kept to a minimum. In particular, we have expanded our traffic management plans specifically to accommodate the larger numbers of visitors expected at IWM Duxford on Sunday 14 September.
As part of these plans we are offering the following guidance to visitors:
ON SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER
· We still have plenty of tickets available for Saturday 13 September; visitors can purchase these on the gate in the usual way.
· Please ensure that you leave plenty of time to complete your journey.
· We encourage visitors to car share, if possible, rather than travelling separately.
· Air show car parks are available as normal. Please follow the yellow signs.
· Alternatively, we have a courtesy bus service running from Cambridge Station, picking up at Trumpington Park and Ride. It is also possible to take the train to Whittlesford Parkway station; the museum is a 15 minute walk from the station.
· Saturday’s flying display includes the awesome spectacle of the Avro Vulcan, The Great War Display team, and over 40 other classic and modern aircraft taking to skies.
ON SUNDAY 14 SEPTEMBER
If you have already bought your tickets for Sunday 14 September and plan to travel by car:

· We anticipate the normal volume of air show traffic on Saturday 13 September, but a greater volume of traffic on the roads around IWM Duxford on Sunday 14 September.
