We may have had the Golden Globes, The BAFTAS and the Academy Awards but Thriplow Village still needs to cast its all important vote !

Welcoming in 2015 with a raft of superb films Thriplow Film Night calls upon its brilliant audience to give their opinions. For those who haven't been before this is a very fun way in which we raise money for the School and the Church, there is a bar from 8pm followed by the film being screened at 9pm. It offers a good chance to catch up with friends, meet new people and have a very cost effective, fun evening out....please do join us if you haven't before.

The next film night will be a true celebration as it is to be held on St George's Day Thursday 23rd April in Thriplow School.

To thank you all for the incredible level of support which St George's church and Thriplow School have received through the Film Nights we will give everyone who buys a ticket by the 2nd April a glass of sparkling wine ( or a soft alternative ) as they arrive on film night. The price of ticket remains at £5 including popcorn. Tickets will be on sale in the school and the village shop from Friday 6th March.

Now on with the Vote, please read the below, pick your favourite and email me lizzieduckworth@PROTECTED

4 Award winning films to pick from;

  1. The Imitation Game (drama)

During the winter of 1952, British authorities entered the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to investigate a reported burglary. They instead ended up arresting Turing himself on charges of 'gross indecency', an accusation that would lead to his devastating conviction for the criminal offense of homosexuality - little did officials know, they were actually incriminating the pioneer of modern-day computing. Famously leading a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers, he was credited with cracking the so-called unbreakable codes of Germany's World War II Enigma machine. An intense and haunting portrayal of a brilliant, complicated man, THE IMITATION GAME follows a genius who under nail-biting pressure helped to shorten the war and, in turn, save thousands of lives.

2. Pride (drama/comedy)

PRIDE is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It's the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers' families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

3.The Grand Budapest Hotel (drama/comedy)

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune -- all against the back-drop ofa suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

4.Rush - Drama/Action & Adventure

Two-time Academy Award (R) winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) teams once again with two-time Academy Award (R)-nominated writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) on Rush, a spectacular big-screen re-creation of the merciless and legendary 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between gifted English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth of The Avengers, Thor) and his disciplined Austrian opponent, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl of Inglourious Basterds, The Bourne Ultimatum)

Please email me back with your votes and I will announce the winning film on Tuesday 3rd March.

Many thanks

Lizzie
