Daffodil Weekend – thanks!

This e-mail is to thank everyone in the village and outside for a very successful Daffodil Weekend. It’s an enormous effort for everyone and it wouldn’t happen at all but for the hard work that the whole village puts in. The weekend managed to raise around £35,000 for local good causes – a result we should all be proud of! Note this figure is provisional and will hopefully increase, also the figure doesn’t include all of the money raised for other charities by the individual stalls at home etc.

Daffodil Weekend has 3 main aims and I think we managed to meet them all this year:

1. To ensure our visitors have a good time - we should be proud to show off our lovely village – and I hope (and think) the visitors appreciated all your hard work
2. To build the sense of community - Hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves and met some new people
3. To make money for good causes – but if we have delivered the other two then this is a bonus

There are some people in particular who should be thanked for the work they put in:

·         Katie Hilton and the sandwich makers
·         Mark Columbus for all his work on the signs
·         Keith Mannion for providing the health and safe compliant entrance to Taste of Thriplow free of charge
·         Thriplow Farms, Dellars Farm, Nigel Smith and KWS for the kind use of their land

We are looking forward to next year’s event on 16/17 April
