Dear All

A very big thank you from Daffodil Weekend to all those who baked some really super cakes this year – we had lots of them and they all looked delicious. Also, thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help in the tea rooms. Daffodil Weekend would not happen without you. Extra special thanks to -

Our Tea Room Team Leaders:
Julie Bloom
Wendy Mersh
Angela Rimmer
Sue Earnshaw
Sophie Earnshaw
Lisa Turner and the Cricket Club
Debbie Arbon
Jan Wynne
Liz Moore
Pauline Walker

Very many thanks to everyone at Thriplow School too for their help and for the many lovely cakes that arrived there on Friday. We were also lucky to have Vic, Zizi, Anne and Penny from outside the village, to lend a hand at the school on Sunday afternoon.

Thank you also to:

Penny Grant for a lovely selection of home-made cakes Erica Webber for whipping cream and helping me throughout Saturday Jan Wynne for giving the Pavilion a little spring clean as well as washing aprons and tea towels Larry Seligman, his dad from down under and Brian (and Christian) Robertson for shifting trestle tables around for me in the pouring rain on Friday afternoon. Katie Hilton and team for doing a great job with the sandwiches on the Friday and Saturday evening – all our sandwiches sold out (apart from 3 ham) making a profit of approx. £660. Imran and Melissa Tayabali and Mary Lindgren for making space in their fridge for storing the sandwiches overnight Katherine Martin for the gorgeous flowers and bunting in the hall Daniel for helping put away the catering equipment on Sunday evening – not an easy task! Helen in the shop for tirelessly ordering paper plates for me J Sonja at the school for clearing up all the mud and straw left behind in the school on Sunday. Wendy, who not only washed aprons on Saturday evening, but did a super job cleaning the hall floor on Sunday. And to Hanna Roberts for providing a baby changing area in the information tent on The Green.

For those that like numbers, the tea room takings were up on last year (approx. total takings of £8k), with all tea room venues benefitting from the bad weather on Saturday morning. Overall, Daffodil Weekend made £26k+ for charity.

Do get in touch with any thoughts or comments about the tea rooms. Always looking for new ideas.

Great job everyone. Hope you had fun and once again thank you.

Best wishes
Gill McDonnell
