Dear all

More news from the shop...

  1. Welcome to new staff and volunteers
  2. Subscriptions due
  3. Wine club re-order
  4. Bank Holiday and Sunday opening hours
  5. Weekend Newspapers
  6. 150 Club winners
  7. We have several new people on our team and we’d like to introduce them to you. Gill MacDonnell is a new but temporary member of staff who is helping out over the summer period, particularly filling in for time that Sue would have worked but for her illness. Gill has picked things up very quickly and we are very grateful to her for standing in. We have also trained Wendy Binns and Kerstin Rivett so that they can be Sunday volunteers in the next few months and beyond. Please be kind to them all while they get control of the myriad things they have to remember!

We are looking for more help. We are especially keen to find someone to do about 11 or so hours a week on a regular basis (during the week, not weekends), we pay better than national living wage and full training will be given. If you or members of your family are interested, please enquire in the shop. Minimum age is 18. Likewise, we would love to have more volunteers on Sundays.

2. Thank you to all those who have donated their Subscription money to us. Margaret Jackson is still collecting subs as lots of people have been on holiday. Last year, we had an excellent result, getting more from subscriptions than we made net profit, so you can see how important this item is for us. Please leave your donation in the shop, it will save Margaret using her gentle persuasion techniques on you!

3. We have just had a successful wine club round, thank you to everyone who bought some. It seems that some people missed this round so I’m re-launching the offer and we can still get the selections we had before. Please let me know promptly if you want anything, and I will place another order with Noel Young. If you aren’t on the wine club list and want to be, let me know by replying to this message.

4. On Bank Holiday Monday, we will be open from 8.30-12 noon. Please note that from September onwards, these will be our new Sunday opening hours too.

5. We have had more problems with weekend newspapers. Smiths send us far too few of the most popular newspapers and we run short. We are negotiating with them on this but we are also monitoring more carefully, those people who have reserved newspapers and fail to either cancel them due to holidays, or collect them. If you don’t want a newspaper that is reserved for you on any particular weekend, please let us know (01763 208727) and we can sell it to someone else.

6. Our 150 Club winners for July were Liz Moore, Brenda Smith, Gill Aldred and Michael Murch. Congratulations to them all. The new year for this fundraiser starts in November.

So that’s all for now....

Kevin and TVSA
