Here is our news for June...

1. Our AGM will be held on Thursday
2. We had a pretty good year in 2016
3. Alison is retiring as Treasurer
4. 150 Club winners
5. Air conditioning and chillers (again)....
6. We will hold the AGM for the TVSA organisation on Thursday this week (29th June) at 8pm in Thriplow Village Hall. It shouldn't take long but please come along if you are a TVSA member, and hear the good news. We'll be glad to see you.
7. Speaking of good news, we made a small profit last year but on a slightly reduced turnover, the figures will be announced at the AGM. Outside of numbers we had a good staff situation with Maureen joining us, and Helen, Sue, Dan all continuing their good work. We added Wendy Binns and Kerstin Rivett to our list of volunteers and retained all our others. It's a happy shop with happy customers and staff.
8. After 11 years on the committee, and serving as our accountant, Alison Starr is leaving us. She now lives in Milton Keynes and has a full-time job and a baby. We'd like to thank her for all her efforts and skills over the last 11 years, some of them very formative and worrying for the committee, but she leaves us with the business in good health. This of course leaves a job unoccupied - that of preparing the accounts every year. It's not a big task but it is important and needs to be done by someone with the right skills, and in a timely manner before the AGMs which are normally held in June of each year (our financial year ends in January). If anyone feels they can help us out, please let us know.
9. 150 Club winners in May were Geoff Link, Wendy Seaton, Geoff Axe and Al Russell, congratulations to them all. The next draw for June is imminent!
10. We have had extremely hot weather recently - as I write it is chucking it down and cool. But as ever, at the height of the heatwave, one of our chillers packed up. Fortunately it was only the fruit and veg chiller so it wasn't a big problem. We had it fixed quickly. We also decided to invest in a portable cooler to focus its efforts on the chocolate rack during hot weather. One was ordered online but it had been sold to someone else before they could ship it to us. Another was found and it too went out of stock before we could get our hands on it. 200 were sold by one supplier in 4 days! We're still looking for one, hopefully we'll have it before the next heatwave.
