Hi Everyone
Daffodil Weekend is upon us again so here is a quick update from the shop…
- We are open longer hours
- Please collect your pre-ordered newspapers early
- Flowers will be available soon
- Financial progress last year was good
- 150 Club winners
- Opening Hours.
On Saturday we will be open from 7am till 4.30 or 5pm depending on the weather.
On Sunday, we will open from 8am till 4.30 or 5pm depending on weather.
We will open as usual 7am to 6pm in the days before and after the Weekend.
- Pre-ordered newspapers.
The roads are closed to traffic during Daffodil Weekend so anyone from outside the village needs to collect their papers early, before the road closure takes effect. But this is good sense for anyone in the village too, the queues in the shop start to build from 10.30 so unless you like waiting around, it would be better to do your business with the shop before the visitors start to take over! We like to make sure you get what you want in the shop over the Weekend so please help us and yourself by coming in a bit earlier than normal.
- Flowers.
You may have noticed the lack of the trolley with the flowers and plants on it over the winter. This is because our supplier no longer wants to supply over the winter months. They have promised to start our summer-time supply with a full trolley ready for Daffodil Weekend. Again, our visitors find these plants very popular, so if you want first choice, get your plants before the weekend or early on Saturday.
- Financial News
Our financial year ends at the end of January. Our year 2018-19 ended with turnover increasing by just over 4% and although some of this will be inflation, it looks like we do still have growth from more customers and existing customers buying more from us. It’s too early to say if we have improved our profitability but we just need to break even to continue as strongly as we are currently doing. Thank you to all of our customers for keeping us in this happy situation.
- 150 Club winners for January were Mary Duff, Robin Cox and Shirley Murray. And February winners were Clare Thomson, Carol Deed, William Russell and Gill Aldred.
