Hi all

On behalf of the Tearoom Trio responsible for running the Daffodil Weekend tearooms, we have a lot of huge thank yous to say to everyone that helped out.

Whether you baked cakes, kept the urns filled and boiling, poured tea, moved or cleared tables, made sandwiches etc, we couldn't have done it without you. It takes a lot of volunteers to keep things running smoothly.

We used 190 litres of milk over the weekend, and approximately 4500 cups, trying to use up the old stock, and we sold out of cakes at the cricket pavilion and village hall.

This year we also threw the tearoom staff a curve ball by introducing contactless card payments. These weren't widely used by many customers, but we need to keep up with the times and will be using them next year. It would be great to have those on the tills 'downloaded' and ready to go before the weekend. Unfortunately we didn't have much time to prepare for them this year as it was a last minute idea.

A very special thank you needs to go to our tearoom team leaders, Lisa Turner, Debbie Arbon, Sue Earnshaw, Julie Bloom, Wendy Mersh, Angela Rimmer/Pip McGarry, Sarah Clarkson, Linda Baron, and Carol Deed.

Thank you also to Katie Hilton and her sandwich making team for the military operation that produces our sandwiches. We only had a few left on the Saturday, using 64 loaves of bread, and making £887.00 profit on the sandwiches over the weekend.

We'd also like to thank Maureen at the shop for ordering supplies.

The school parents and children provided a vast array of wonderful cakes for which we are very grateful.

A special thank you goes to Katherine Martin who did flowers for the village hall tables, including extras for the tables we put outside the village hall on the Sunday. (at very short notice) she even managed to rustle up table cloths to cover the rather grim looking trestle tables. It made all the difference to the welcome that our visitors received.

The takings for the weekend were

School £4,312.00

Village Hall £3,450.00

Cricket pavilion £3,053.00

With an estimated £1,200.00 costs.

We have loved everyone's willingness to get stuck in, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend with everyone pulling together in the special way that our wonderful community does.

We're already looking forward to next year, and send our gratitude and warmest wishes to you all.

Mandy, Gill and Diana
