Thriplow is in the Lord Mayors Show!

 

The Lord Mayors show dates back to medieval times and is a national event that is seen by over 3 million viewers around the world. The show will be taking place on 9^th November this year. Subject to election the new Lord Mayor will be William Russell. It is traditional that the show reflects his life and interests. We have been given the opportunity to take part.

 

A small organising committee has been looking into what we could do that represents both William and Thriplow. The decision has been taken that we will put on a show using the members of the Yellow Barrows display team from the 50^th Daffodil celebration, Church, Cricket Club and School. This reflects the Thriplow community, our sense of fun and will show off our daffodils (the barrows and support vehicle will be suitably decorated). This also keeps our costs to a minimum (every person taking part will be covering all of their own personal expenses). As well as being a lot of fun it is also a huge opportunity to show off our wonderful village.

 

We would like to involve as many people as possible from the village and are looking at running coach(s) to London for anyone who would like to spectate and cheer us on. The coach will cost around £18 for a day out in London depending on how many people are interested. We can also offer places in the Grandstand for anyone interested at the heavily discounted rate of £20 (normally price is £40)

 

We would like to be able to raise enough money to cover the event entry costs and generate a surplus for charity. We will announce a series of fund raising events over the summer. We are also working on sponsorship and advertising initiatives.
