Dear Parishioner,

We are looking to recruit some more volunteers to assist with our Thriplow Community Speedwatch Group. Full training is provided by the Police and the commitment would be, perhaps, two x 1 hour sessions per month. We currently operate when traffic through the village is at its heaviest, usually 8:00 am to 9:00 am, 13:00-14:00 pm, 17:00-18:00, but we can be completely flexible to fit in with volunteers commitments. With more volunteers on board, we will be able to step up our efforts in making our roads in Thriplow safer.

You may have seen us in operation in Middle Street, Fowlmere Road and also School Lane (during the school holidays only when there aren’t any parked vehicles outside the school).

From an initial regular 18 speeding vehicles logged during a 1 hour period, this has now reduced to 8-9 per hour so the message is, hopefully, getting through.

This way of educating drivers to slow down is essential if we are to avoid any accident/s in the future.

Please help if you can, transport to Cambourne Police Station can be provided should you require it.

The next training session is:

  • Saturday, 13 July 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

Best wishes,

Mary Axe
