Hi all,
Update from Heathfield and Thriplow Corona support group
We are now entering the fourth week of the lock down and the support group is working hard supporting a significant number of households in isolation. Below is a quick update on what is going on in Heathfield and Thriplow and some issues that have arisen. Please note that we cannot be more specific on numbers of cases or households affected
The shop services are holding up well and can now take telephone debit card payments for topping up your Prepay accounts or paying for orders remotely. Please maintain social distancing requirements when in the shop and particularly when queuing outside. Please order fruit, veg and meat requirements at least the day before you need them. You can place orders with the shop by phone and these will then be delivered to you by one of our volunteers. The shop’s number is (01763) 208958.
It is great to see how friends and neighbours are helping each other out - this is the primary way our community will get through the current situation. The vast majority of support is happening in this way. Please do take the time to check in with each other - even if it is for just a chat - it really helps. We have a number of volunteers only too willing to talk - if you would like a phone call from a friendly villager (or think someone else may benefit from a call) please let us know through our email or our first contacts. There are also a number of other support groups available and we have listed some of their contacts at the foot of this message along with someuseful contacts for South Cambs council
There have been some questions asked about the pieman visiting on Thursday mornings. All traders are required to work to the current strict social distancing requirements and the Cheese and Pie Man was spot-checked on the 3rd April by Essex District Council and was commended for the approach taken. As a key worker this service meets all the necessary requirements. The visit of the pieman was agreed with the shop and they are supporting each other and not cannibalising sales.
The volunteers are running regular shopping trips to local supermarkets and will deliver to homes that are in isolation. Please let us know if you would like to make use of this service
