Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee, 2012

As we all know, the country will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee as sovereign, in 2012. There are planned celebrations throughout the year but the actual date of the focus of national celebrations is Saturday/Sunday 2 & 3 June.

Thriplow Parish Council proposes to support local events – in Thriplow and in Heathfield – on those dates and we are seeking/inviting volunteers from both communities to ‘mastermind’ the festivities.

Many of you will remember that the local Silver Jubilee and Millennium celebrations were greatly enjoyed by all. Now we have a new challenge to appropriately celebrate 60 years of our Queens reign that all of us – from youngest to oldest – will remember and have lots of fun.

We would like to hear from people who are interested in being part of this exciting, or have ideas for the events. Please initially contact the Chairman of the Parish Council – Derek Pinner – through the Thriplow website (Parish Council pages) at www.thriplow.org.uk.

An inaugural meeting will be held in Thriplow Village Hall in early January – date to be advised.

Let’s make sure we have great celebrations to mark this historic royal event!

With best wishes,

Derek Pinner
Chairman - Thriplow Parish Council
