Hi everyone, there's lots of good news so here we go....

  1. The Shop AGM is next Thursday
  2. Thanks to Daffodil Weekend, again!
  3. Meat orders, and ordering generally
  4. 150 Club winners and the next draw will be on Tuesday
  5. Crop for the Shop, the Wine Order and other new stuff in the shop
  6. We are holding the Annual General Meeting on Thursday

The AGM will be held in the Village Hall on Thursday evening, 28th June, at 7.30pm. Yes, we know that it is the same evening as the Semi-Final of the Euros if England beat Italy on Sunday but we got there first! Please come along to hear how we are doing and make any points or questions you would like to make, it shouldn’t take long.

In the next few weeks, Judy will once again be collecting subscriptions to the Shop Association. We’ve kept the subscription at £10 per household again (but some people put in £10 per person).

2. A Big Thanks to Daffodil Weekend

On Wednesday, we received confirmation that the Daffodil Weekend organisation will be paying most of our rent for the next year. This is tremendous news and this support has been the difference between the shop staying open after the Post Office closure, or not.

We promised the Daffodil Weekend that we would turn the shop around and we have, but this could never have been done without the financial support we have had. THANK YOU.

3. Meat Orders, and other ways of ordering.

We were surprised a while ago when Russells in Meldreth went out of business without any notice, but they have started up again under the name Daveys, and once again, we are taking their met to sell. We will make orders for the shop generally, typically bacon, burgers, sausages and everyday meats but we are very happy to place a customer order in case you need a lot of meat or something special, and we get next day delivery. We’ve got a fresh order in today so there will be lots of choice- first come, first served!

Similarly, we take customer orders for Leech’s meat, which as you know is top quality stuff (and we are the only village shop around who gets deliveries). This way you can order and not have to stand in their queues. Order by Wednesday, they deliver on Thursday.

Maybe our ordering offer would be interesting to clubs and societies around the area. We can get anything that we normally stock with a maximum of 1 week’s notice, and usually we only need a day’s notice – we can even do Sale or Return on many items! So if you are organising a meeting or party in your home, garden or the village hall, just tell us what you need and we’ll make the order and put it aside for you.

4. 150 Club Draw

Last month’s winners were Claire Starr (who won with someone else’s stake money so I won’t raise that sensitive issue again!), Bob Tomlinson, Pauline Hopkins and Liz Duckworth. Well done to all.

The next draw will take place in the Green Man at about 8pm on Tuesday 26th June.

5. Other stuff in the Shop

We are starting the Crop for the Shop scheme again where local people bring in their excess home-grown fruit and vegetables for us to sell at low prices. Look out for these items as they represent good value for excellently fresh produce. And if you have anything spare from the garden, please bring it down, last year we had a great response and it is most appreciated.

We have a new selection of cards and wrapping paper in, look out for that.

The Wine Club order has gone in and deliveries will take place shortly. If you need any wine, you can still order some, but be quick!

That’s all for now.
