Hi Folks, here is the news from Thriplow Shop...
Last year was poor by comparison with previous years due to the limited number of visitors, due in turn to the weather. But this year, shop takings came roaring back to 2012 levels, which were excellent. The shop organisation was well d=one (thanks Helen) and no problems seemed to occur over the weekend. Thanks to the organising committee for making the weekend itself a great success, which of course the shop shared in.
2. 150 Club Winners
We have had two draws since the last newsletter. First prize winners were Chris Neild and Barry Radley. Congratulations to both on winnning the jackpot prizes, and to all the other winners. We are half way through the year now and so anyone wanting to buy a ball for the rest of the year needs to pay only £7.50! Don’t miss out, you have to be in it to win it!
3. Staff Vacancy still exists
We still have a vacancy for a paid member of staff. The position would be for anything between 0 and 20 hours a week depending on what time of year it is but would average out at around 10 hours per week. It would suit a recently retired person who might like a bit more spending money and it is also good to help you get to know lots of people in and around the village.
If you are interested in this position, please contact Helen in the shop or any of the committee.
4. New products.
We have a new delivery of wine in the shop, so try out the new selections from Noel Young. Later this week, we hope to have a delivery of specialist cheeses, just the perfect accompaniment to the red wine! There are currently some excellent value cauliflowers in the shop, grab them quick.
And don’t forget that we about to enter the “Crop for the Shop” period of the year. If you gardeners end up with more produce than you can eat, don’t throw it away, please donate it to the shop and we’ll sell it at low prices for the rest of the village to enjoy. This is always a very popular thing, so let’s share our vegetables and fruit.
5. Tickets Available.
We are currently selling tickets for another two events in the village. Watch out for posters on the Film Night and Music evening and please ask us if you wish to purchase any of these tickets. If you have anything you’d like us to sell tickets for, just let us know.
