The Latest News on The Mary Cooper Open Church Project

We are pleased to tell you that work is about to start on the construction of toilets at St George’s Church, Thriplow. It should be completed by September. The church will be a more useful community facility as a result and we look forward to hosting more events there.

This is the second phase of our “Open Church Project”. The work involves building a small extension in the same design and proportions as the porch, with access via the existing north door. It will house two much-needed toilets and some useful storage space. The architect’s plans are all approved and a building contractor was recently appointed. Copies of the plans are on view in the church.

The total estimated cost is £98,000. We have raised almost £80,000, thanks to the continued generosity of this community. We have applied to the Daffodil Weekend Trustees for a grant towards the project but we do need to raise a bit more money to close the gap.

Please help if you can, either by sending a donation to Jeremy Murray, Hon Treasurer, 15 The Green, Thriplow, Royston, SG8 7QY (cheques can be made payable to ‘Thriplow PCC’ and crossed ‘Open Church Project’ ) or by using the website www.justgiving.com/stgeorgesthriplow.
