Hi everyone, quite a bit going on with the shop, here is our news....

  1. The freezer is repaired!
  2. Meet our new helper, Jamie
  3. Shoe repairs
  4. 150 Club winners
  5. New Sunday volunteers
  6. Our display freezer has now been repaired. We will be able to restock it fairly quickly so normal service on pizzas, pastry, prawns, pre-made meals (and anything else beginning with ‘P’!) will be resumed as soon as possible. We apologise for the delay – originally we thought we would buy a new one because the repair was going to be expensive, but the new one we wanted seems to be out of stock longterm, so we decided to replace the broken compressor (which is the main component of a freezer anyway) and this too took some time to source. All done now.
  7. You may have seen Jamie MacKillop in the shop since late February. Jamie has moved into the village and is waiting to go to University in October. We’ve trained him up totally and he has been helping us out during staff sickness and other absences recently. We’re sure he’ll be back during the spring and summer and we are glad that he’s there if we need him. Say hi if you see him in the shop.
  8. Our shoe repairer has retired and we have been unable to find a shoe repairer that will collect and deliver repaired shoes on a weekly basis. So until and unless we find somebody, this service will have to be discontinued. If anyone knows a cobbler who will collect, please let us know!
  9. 150 Club winners in February were Kit Jackson, Tim Holmes and Eric Fisher. Congratulations to all. Second prize would have been ‘won’ by somebody who didn’t renew their membership in November – could that have been you? You’ve got to be in it to win it!
  10. We have four people who want to be trained up to join our Sunday rota of volunteers and that’s great! Look out for them in training sessions, the first will be April 3 and bear with them until they get the hang of things.

That’s all for now, except to wish you all Happy Easter – don’t forget some special Easter eggs are in the shop now.

Kevin and TVSA
