Hi all,

Daffodil Weekend 2016

Firstly a great big thanks for all the work you put in over the weekend! The village has never looked better and we are receiving great feedback from our visitors. More importantly everyone working on the event seemed to be enjoying it which helps build the social “glue” of our wonderful village. It makes me hugely proud to be part of the Thriplow community

As a result of all this effort we have managed to raise around £26,000 for charity and local good causes (we expect the final figure to be higher than this). This figure is calculated after all of the additional costs for new catering equipment, bulb planting etc has been paid. Note also this figure does not include all of the money raised by other charity groups on individual stalls which we estimate to be a further £10,000

Many many people work on Daffodil Weekend, but I would like to call out some particular people and groups for particular thanks for their efforts:

· Morag and Les for planting speciality varieties
· The Parish Council for their support and financial contribution to the bulb planting (they have paid 50%)
· Katie Hilton and the sandwich makers
· Mark Columbus, Signs
· Larry – moving trestle tables on his 40th birthday
· David Walston and the Thriplow Farms team – Dick and Grant – tractor rides, machinery and pulling stall holders out of the mud
· John Rimmer for his work on the Gravel Pit Hill triangle
· Our sponsors: Thriplow Farms, Redmayne Arnold and Harris, Endurance Estates, KWS
· The cricket club for all their work – despite what we do to their outfield!

I would also like to thank the committee for all of the work they put in through the year:

· Attractions Mary Lindgren
· Catering Gill McDonnell
· Finance Alison Starr
· Health and Safety Brian Roberts
· Infrastructure Greg Hilton
· Infrastructure Clare Ansell
· Publicity and Coaches Dan Murton
· Signs Jonny Griffin
· Stalls Alastair Gray
· Music Florence Walston
· Transport Imran Tayabali
· Transport Melissa Tayabali
· Village Image Neil Rowland Hall
· Admin (coaches) Angela Mulholland
· Admin (Stalls) Lisa Maltpress
· Program Kerstin Rivett (and Gill)

We received around 10,000 visitors this year which obviously leaves the village looking a little dishevelled. Please bear with us as we continue the tidying up.

Please let us know any comments you have about Daffodil Weekend either by contacting a committee member or by e mailing us admin@PROTECTED . There will be an open meeting later in the year for further feedback and presentation of the accounts. We are always looking for more help so if you want to be part of a great team delivering one of the best charity events please get in touch

Thanks again for all of your hard work

Best wishes

Paul Earnshaw
Chairman, Daffodil Committee
