1. Well the long hot spell may be over now but it had its effect on the shop.  Almost predictably, we lost a chiller - this time it was the display freezer.  They always seem to blow when the hot weather comes!  Anyway we thought we could get it fixed but this turned out to be a false hope and we had to spend £1300 on a new one, which is really lovely and bigger internally than the one we lost, but was an expenditure we hadn’t anticipated.  So although we had planned to replace the shop air conditioning unit, we now have to re-assess whether we can afford it just yet.  More news later in the year.
    
2. We are going really well this summer.  In fact July was our best ever non-Daffodil Weekend month, probably boosted by both subscriptions and a round of the Wine Club but these things always happen this time of year so underlying performance is also good.  On top of a fabulous year last year which we reported in the AGM, things are looking solid for the shop.
    
3. For those of you who have yet to subscribe to membership of the shop Association, Margaret is still collecting subs via the shop.  Please join us for £10 per head, if we’re lucky we can use the subs to cover the cost of the freezer!  This year we are asking you to sign a simple form giving us authority to hold your address and other information when you renew your subscription - to comply with GDPR regulations.
    
4. The winners of the 150 Club in June and July were Linda Neeves, Malcolm Barrie, David Easthope, Betty Parker, Sue Earnshaw, Zib Gotto and Brenda Smith.  Congratulations to them all!  If you want to join the lottery, please ask at the shop and we’ll enrol you.
