Hi all,
Update from Daffodil Weekend
Last weekend should have been our 52nd Daffodil Weekend. As you are aware we had to cancel due to Corona virus - the second only time the event has had to be called off. Daffodil Weekend brings us all together as a community and it is wonderful to see how our parish is now reacting in the current emergency - everyone is pulling together to help each other, friends and neighbours.
You may have been thankful that we did not have to run the weekend as it was freezing cold, windy and there was some sleet on the Sunday, but that does not mean you are completely off the hook. Daffodil Weekend will be back next year (20th/21st March). Showing true British spirit a number of coaches and stalls have already booked in! Please put this in your diary now. It promises to be a truly memorable event to make up for this “non” year.
In the mean time when you are taking your daily exercise walk why not dead-head some daffs? This years display was magnificent due to the amount of dead heading carried out last year - please take a few minutes to do this fun activity
When the current emergency is over and the restrictions have been loosened sufficiently we will look into some sort of village party. Unfortunately Daffodil Weekend will not be able to underwrite this event as we made a record breaking loss this year (despite cancelling early) but I am sure we can think creatively to come up with something - any ideas welcome.
I also wanted to express my thanks to everyone on the committee and in other organisations who had put in so much hard work ahead of the cancellation.
At this difficult time please look after yourselves and others - remember if you need help whilst isolating with shopping or other issues you can get in touch with the Heathfield and Thriplow support group by emailing thriplowcoronavirus@PROTECTED or by ringing one of the “first contacts”
Keep safe
