Message on behalf of Daffodil Weekend Committee and Thriplow Parish Council
Dear all,
A plan to rejuvenate our village daffodils for the 50th Daffodil Weekend
In the next few weeks we will start work to create world class displays of daffodils on our verges and triangles. Most of the large planting displays will be at the village “gateways” to welcome people to the village and also minimise the impact and untidyness once the flowering has finished. We have selected traditional English and more robust varieties of daffodils with a range of flowering periods. The three iconic triangles (Shop, Anno Dom and Gravel Pit Hill) will be cleared with a digger and re-covered in top soil and resown with grass (Peggs Close bank will also be reworked as part of the Parish Council action plan). We will also undertake some infrastructure tasks such as putting in new protective oak posts and repositioning a grit bin. Further planting of specialist varieties will take place in the autumn of 2016. Further details can be seen in the attached document.
Thank you for your understanding for any inconvenience caused whilst this work takes place
Best wishes
Daffodil Committee and Parish Council
