Every year Thriplow Farms publishes a short report on what the farm has been up to in the previous twelve months. Although this is always public, I doubt if most people are aware of it. For anyone who is curious as to what happens on some of the land round the village, you may be interested to read this years version. It can be found at http://thriplow-farms.co.uk/annual.html (along with all the others back to 1974) David Walston ...Continue Reading

As you may be aware, tomorrow (January 8th) is the day the South Cambs District Council planning committee meets, and were due to make a determination on the solar park application. Due to council regulations, we have been unable to amend the plans to take into account the comments that have been made, both by residents and by the statutory consultees. Because of this, the application has been withdrawn from tomorrows committee meeting. We will now amend the plans after further consultation with the parish council, an ...Continue Reading

Hi All Sorry to interrupt your festivities, but this is just a quick update and urgent reminder in relation to the latest Thriplow solar farm application. As you know this is being reconsidered on 8 Jan and we have until 3 Jan latest to object again. South Cambs planning officers have recommended refusal once again - but this needs to be backed up by strong levels of objections from residents. If you are still against this huge development on our Green Belt and haven't already done so - please take a few minutes to ...Continue Reading

SECOND HAND BOOKS Got time on your hands now Christmas is over? Sick of TV? Fancy curling up on a wet afternoon with a good book? These have been donated over the past few years for the Christmas Bazaar etc. There is a good mix of up to date fiction, biographies and non- fiction. If you would like to take some of them to read please help yourself and maybe give a small ...Continue Reading

There seems to have been some confusion with regards the revised solar farm plans and we have sought clarification from SCDC today. Below is the response from the senior planning officer Karen Pell-Coggins. It seems the revision of the revised plans described in Mr Walston's email of yesterday has not been received by SCDC, as yet. The revised plans dated the 4th December still stand showing a less than 10% reduction of solar panels to the original plan. I would just like to clarify some details on the proposed solar development so that people have the correct information to hand. The original plan was for the development to cover 32ha (320,000 square meters). This has now been reduced by roughly 33%. The amended map on the SCDC website is not the current plan - I have attached here an estimation of what the current proposal is. I would imagine that the latest plans will be up on the website in due course. As you can see, the entire field to the north of the Drift h ...Continue Reading

UPDATE – Thriplow Solar Farm As you may be aware the final planning decision for the proposed 32,000 m2 solar farm development to the East of Church Street Thriplow has been postponed from this month until 8th January. The revised proposal takes away a very few panels to the North of the drift. The plans are on the SCDC website using the application number S/2080/13/FL. Many of you will have written letters objecting to the original proposal or asking for further information. SCDC planning department have advised t ...Continue Reading
