Village Message, on behalf of Leela Phadke

September 2nd 2013

Dear friends in Thriplow, As some of you will remember, I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with a group of fellow students from the University of York, to raise money for the charity Hope for Children. The money will be used to construct another building for the Amani Children’s Home in Moshi, Tanzania, which has rescued hundreds of street children over the past decade. The climb is now only a week away, and my training walks have been going really well. I wanted to say a massive thank you to those of you ...Continue Reading

Village Message on behalf of Shirley Murray and the Thriplow Jubilee Friendship Club

July 26th 2013

I have been involved with the Thriplow Jubilee Friendship Club for over 30 years most recently organising all the events and consider it is now time hand over the reins to someone else. The Club meets on alternate Tuesdays for about 2 hours in Thriplow Village Hall where there is a chance for those attending to catch up on each others news, play some games and have a good afternoon tea. In addition, occasional outings are organised and there is a Christmas Lunch in December. I do not want to see the Club ceasing to e ...Continue Reading

Village Message sent on behalf of Ellie MacGarry

Hello everyone, I am having my first solo art exhibition in an empty shop (just next door to Nest in the second courtyard) in Burwash Manor, Barton, starting this Saturday. I've just spent a year in France and some of the works have come all the way from Marseille to be here! Most works will be for sale and I'll be there every day. I'd love to see as many of you as possible - hopefully some familiar faces as well as some new ones. My exhibition also overlaps with the Cambridge Open Studios marquee at Burwash so there ...Continue Reading

Dear friends in Thriplow, As some of you may remember, in September I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with a group of my fellow students at the University of York (where I am currently studying biochemistry). We are raising money for the charity Hope for Children who support the Amani Children’s Home in Moshi, which for over 10 years has been dedicated to the protection of Tanzania’s most vulnerable population: street children. Over the course of the past decade the home has rescued hundreds of childre ...Continue Reading

Village Message on behalf of Thriplow Village Shop

June 27th 2013

Hi We would like to invite you to subscribe, or to renew your subscription, to membership of the Thriplow Village Shop Association. The 2013 rate remains at £10 per head. Although our community-run shop has improved year on year, like most other businesses in the UK it is feeling the effects of the recession. We are a not-for-profit organisation and so we continually run at close to break even, and this is a fragile place to be! We are continually grateful to all of you who support it in so many differen ...Continue Reading
